MIKE WERTZ

General Superintendent

HIS ROLE

Mike leads the North Bay field team and is responsible for labor coordination, quality control and safety on all construction sites.

HIS BACKGROUND AND EXPERIENCE

As a third-generation carpenter, Mike has deep roots in the construction industry. He was one of Skyline’s first employees in 1996. Today, Mike oversees our field team and provides guidance as General Superintendent. He finds his job fulfilling on several levels: “This job is rewarding when you love the people you work with. Also, it’s an honor to be able to build the client’s vision and then look back to see what you’ve accomplished.”

HIS MANAGEMENT PHILOSOPHY

As a leader, Mike likes to provide direction while encouraging his team to drive their own career paths: “The good thing about this job is that there is always opportunity to grow and be challenged, if that is your goal. I like to empower my team to make tough decisions, learn from mistakes and always be thinking of creative solutions. I’m open to new ideas; it’s not my way or the highway,” said Mike.

HIS INTERESTS AND HOBBIES

Mike’s passion for building is second only to his devotion to his family. The Wertz family is tight-knit and loves to travel together. Recently, they took a cross country road trip to Oklahoma, Louisiana, Kentucky, Ohio, New Mexico and Arizona.
